Meibomian Gland dysfunction
Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), is when the glands become clogged, causing insufficient oil production for the tear film. When there is a dysfunction in the glands, the amount of oil/quality decreases, causing tears to evaporate too quickly, resulting in dry eyes.
Meibomian gland dysfunction is the most common root cause of dry eyes.
